Pinterest Made Me Do It How to Create a Wedding Stationery Look That Actually Feels Like You

We’ve all been there. You start looking for a little wedding inspiration on Pinterest… and suddenly three hours have disappeared and you have 73 different wedding stationery ideas saved to a board.

You love the dusky pink invitations, but you also love the colourful floral ones. Then there’s the minimalist black and white stationery you keep coming back to. Oh, and that beautiful earthy green wedding you found last night…

Sound familiar?

Pinterest is absolutely amazing for finding inspiration, but when you have too many ideas, it can actually make deciding on your wedding stationery feel even harder.

So, how do you turn all those saved images into a stationery design that actually feels like you?

Start with the feeling, not the details

Rather than looking at individual fonts, colours or flowers, think about the overall feeling you want your wedding to have. Do you want it to feel timeless and elegant? Relaxed and romantic? Modern and minimal? Colourful and fun?

Once you know the feeling you're trying to create, it becomes much easier to work out which ideas fit — and, more importantly, which ones don't.

Look for similarities

Take a look through your Pinterest board(s) and see if there are any themes appearing again and again. This could give you a hint into what really resonates most with your personal style.

Maybe you're drawn to soft, muted colours, or perhaps you keep saving invitations with beautiful hand-drawn illustrations. You might notice that you're always choosing elegant serif fonts, textured cards, or delicate floral details.

You don't need to copy one particular design. Instead, take the elements you love from different designs and bring them together in a way that feels personal to you.

Don't try to incorporate everything

This is probably the hardest part! If you love five different fonts, six colours and about twenty different floral illustrations, it doesn't mean they all need to make it onto your stationery.

Less really is more - especially with wedding stationery (we love a little white space!)

Choose a few key elements and let them showcase your style. A beautiful font, a considered colour palette, and one distinctive illustration can be much more effective than trying to squeeze every idea you've saved onto one invitation.

Think about your stationery as a whole

Your invitation shouldn't feel like a completely separate design from your on-the-day stationery. Think about how your invitations, menus, place names, table plans and signage could work together.

They don't all need to be identical, but carrying through certain colours, fonts, illustrations or design details will create that lovely “everything just works together” feeling.

Take inspiration from other elements of your wedding

Whilst Pinterest is an incredible starting place for design inspo, looking to other parts of your wedding for ideas is equally helpful.

Maybe your wedding venue naturally suits a particular style (think relaxed, rustic charm for a barn venue, or classical, romantic vibes for a country house or castle). Or perhaps your chosen flowers have already created the perfect colour palette to tie-in to your wedding stationery - and beyond.

Looking at these details can really help bring your design visions to life in the most beautiful, seamless way.

And if you're still overwhelmed…

That's exactly where a stationery designer can help - oh hey! 👋🏻

You don't need to start your wedding stationery journey with everything completely figured out. Bring us your Pinterest boards, your venue, your colour ideas and all the things you love — even if they don't seem to make sense together, yet!

Our job is to take all those ideas and turn them into a cohesive design that feels like your wedding, rather than something you've simply copied from Pinterest.

Inspiration is brilliant, but the best wedding stationery isn't the one with the most Pinterest-worthy details, it's the one that feels unmistakably yours.
